Emma Thompson and Kenneth Branagh broke up in 1995 after six years of marriage, and then rumors circulated alleging that Branagh had an affair with Carter.
Now Thompson, who is married to actor Greg Wise, said that situation belongs to the past.
“You can’t hold on to anything like that,” Thompson told the UK’s Sunday Times. “I just think… pfft. It’s pointless. I haven’t got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago.”
Helena Bonham Carter reportedly had an affair with Kenneth Branagh in 1994, a period in which she played the role of his lover in the adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Their relationship lasted for five years.
